February 2026 : In a move that signals a bold new phase for India’s decorative paints sector, Grasim Industries has recently appointed Sachin Sahay as the Chief Executive Officer of Birla Opus Paints. Taking the helm at a defining moment for the brand, Sahay is expected to leverage his extensive background in market disruption to solidify the company's position as a top-tier player in the ₹80,000 crore Indian paint industry.
Sahay joins Birla Opus at a critical juncture as the brand accelerates its aggressive expansion strategy. Known as a tech-marketing whiz, his arrival is seen as a strategic masterstroke to empower teams and strengthen the foundation of the Aditya Birla Group’s newest powerhouse.
Sahay is no stranger to building empires. With over 2.5 decades of experience, he was a key figure in ITC Limited’s historic transformation from a tobacco-centric business into a diversified FMCG giant. Notably, he was an early incubator of the eChoupal model - a world-renowned rural digital infrastructure - and has a proven track record of scaling greenfield operations into national leaders.
At Birla Opus, Sahay inherits a massive infrastructure, including six state-of-the-art automated plants. His expertise in omnichannel strategies and large-scale distribution will be vital as the brand continues to challenge industry incumbents with its vast portfolio of 2,300+ shades and innovative services like PaintCraft.
Sachin Sahay brings a powerhouse of experience from ITC Limited, where he dedicated over 23 years across senior roles, including Executive Vice President of Sales Operations and Head of Modern Trade & E-Commerce. His early career included a significant stint at Luxor Writing Instruments Ltd (a Gillette JV) as Brand Manager for premium labels Parker & Waterman.
He holds an MBA in Marketing from SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and a BA (Hons) in Mathematics from Delhi University.
