March 2026 : The Indian automotive landscape is about to get a high-voltage upgrade. Technology giant Bosch and India’s premier component manufacturer, Tata AutoComp Systems Limited, have officially announced a 50:50 joint venture aimed at dominating the nation’s rapidly evolving e-mobility sector.
Scheduled to plug into operations by mid-2026, the partnership bridges the gap between global innovation and local grit. The venture will focus on the engineering, manufacturing, and sales of eAxle systems and electric motors, with its headquarters based in the automotive hub of Pune.
For Bosch, this isn't just a business deal; it’s a reinforced commitment to the "Make in India" mission. The company has already funneled over 6 billion euros into e-mobility globally, and this move brings that massive R&D weight to Indian soil.
“The planned partnership with Tata AutoComp Systems Limited is a crucial step in which we aim to combine our global technology leadership with strong local expertise. Our goal is to jointly accelerate the transformation to electromobility for our customers in the Indian market,” says Markus Heyn, member of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH and chairman of Bosch Mobility.
The collaboration arrives at a tipping point for the Indian market. As consumers and commercial fleets pivot toward greener transit, the demand for localized, high-tech components has never been higher.
Arvind Goel, Vice Chairman of Tata AutoComp, noted that the ecosystem is undergoing a "rapid transformation driven by electrification, localization, and the need for scalable technology solutions." By combining Bosch’s technical prowess with Tata AutoComp’s manufacturing excellence, the JV aims to become the "backbone of India’s electrified motion."
While the deal awaits final regulatory nods, the excitement within both camps is palpable. Beyond the hardware, the partnership represents a shared vision for a sustainable, low-emission future. With the board’s approval already secured, the countdown to 2026 has officially begun.
