August 2025 : In a landmark moment for India’s technology sector, CG Semi Private Limited, a subsidiary of CG Power and Industrial Solutions, officially inaugurated one of the nation's first end-to-end Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities in Sanand, Gujarat. This launch positions CG Semi as a key player in the country’s mission to become a global semiconductor powerhouse.

The new G1 facility, part of a larger ₹7,600 crore (~USD 870 million) investment, marks a significant stride toward India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) vision. The facility will have an initial peak capacity of approximately 0.5 million units per day, handling everything from chip assembly to final testing. It is equipped with cutting-edge automation systems and in-house labs, with commercial production slated to begin in 2026.

Mr. Vellayan Subbiah, Chairman, CG Power, commented, “This facility represents more than a milestone for me or for CG Semi; it is a national milestone. It shows how the Government and Industry can come together with conviction, capital, and scale to achieve the vision set by our Honourable Prime Minister. Every chip we make here is a step toward India’s technological sovereignty.”

The facility is also a significant step for workforce development. CG Semi has brought together a team of seasoned industry veterans and has sent Indian engineers and technicians to Malaysia for hands-on training to prepare them for high-volume operations.

A second facility, G2, is currently under construction and is projected to be completed by the end of 2026. Once operational, the two facilities combined are expected to generate over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs and scale up production to 14.5 million units per day. This expansion is poised to further strengthen India’s semiconductor ecosystem and serve both domestic and international markets.
