By combining Johnson Matthey’s differentiated catalyst expertise with our leading technologies and digital capabilities, we are creating a strong platform for future growth while enabling our customers to immediately unlock the benefits of a more robust set of offerings.” - Ken West, President and CEO, Process Technology - Honeywell Technologies
July 2026 : Honeywell Technologies has officially wrapped up its acquisition of Johnson Matthey’s Catalyst Technologies business. The massive £1.325 billion all-cash transaction represents a significant step forward for Honeywell, immediately boosting its capabilities across refining, petrochemicals, and the fast-growing renewable fuels sector.
By blending Johnson Matthey's specialized catalyst knowledge with Honeywell's existing automation systems and the data-driven intelligence of the Honeywell Technologies Forge platform, the company can now offer comprehensive, end-to-end solutions. This integrated approach is designed to help industrial operations smoothly transition toward higher efficiency and fewer emissions.
Ken West, President and CEO, Process Technology, Honeywell Technologies, highlighted the immediate strategic value of the deal: “This acquisition significantly enhances Honeywell Technologies’ ability to deliver end-to-end solutions that help our customers drive efficiency, reduce emissions and accelerate energy security goals. By combining Johnson Matthey’s differentiated catalyst expertise with our leading technologies and digital capabilities, we are creating a strong platform for future growth while enabling our customers to immediately unlock the benefits of a more robust set of offerings.”
The completion of this deal caps off a busy period of structural changes for the company. Following its transition into a pure-play automation leader, Honeywell separated its Aerospace Technologies business into a standalone public entity (Honeywell Aerospace) on June 29, 2026, which followed the spin-off of Solstice Advanced Materials late last year. Since 2023, Honeywell has deployed roughly $11.5 billion toward strategic, high-growth acquisitions.
With more divestitures on the horizon for the second half of 2026, Honeywell Technologies is lean, focused, and uniquely equipped to steer the global industrial value chain from traditional automation toward true operational autonomy.
