A seasoned leader with nearly three decades of experience in high-stakes industrial sectors, Dhar will oversee operational excellence and strategic growth from the company's Bengaluru hub.
Dhar, a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, transitions into this role following a successful tenure as Region Operations Director. His appointment comes at a pivotal time for Wabtec, which continues to expand its footprint in the freight and transit rail industries across India and the APAC region.
With 24 years at General Electric (GE), Dhar has a proven track record of managing large-scale, complex operations. His expertise spans plant turnarounds, supply chain optimization, and the development of world-class talent. He is widely recognized for his "mission-based approach" to transformation, balancing performance with long-term growth.
Shankar Dhar’s professional journey is anchored by a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. His career features high-impact leadership roles across global giants, beginning with over two decades at General Electric (GE), where he served as Vice President for GE Transportation, Plant Manager at GE Oil & Gas, and Supply Chain Leader for GE Power & Water. He further expanded his expertise as Senior Vice President at Adani Defence and Aerospace before joining Wabtec Corporation, where he served as Region Operations Director prior to his current elevation to Vice President of Operations.
