August 2025 : Ecolab Inc. has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Ovivo’s Electronics business, a leading provider of ultra-pure water technologies for the semiconductor industry, for approximately $1.8 billion in cash. The acquisition is expected to significantly bolster Ecolab’s high-tech growth engine, bringing together Ovivo’s specialized technologies with Ecolab’s global service and digital capabilities.

The combined platform will focus on providing circular water management solutions that aim to drastically reduce fresh water consumption in microchip manufacturing while optimizing production and quality. Ovivo Electronics, which employs over 900 people globally, is projected to generate sales of $500 million in 2025. Following the acquisition, Ecolab's global high-tech business is expected to more than double in size to approximately $800 million and grow at a strong double-digit rate.

The transaction is anticipated to close in the first quarter of 2026, pending regulatory clearance. Ecolab expects the acquisition to be immediately accretive to its sales growth, with the contribution to adjusted earnings per share building through 2027 and beyond.
