September 2026 : GAIL (India) Limited has recently announced the appointment of Shri Manoj Kumar Sharma as its new Director (Projects). Bringing over three decades of deep domain expertise across India’s hydrocarbon infrastructure value chain, Sharma steps into the role to steer large-scale energy infrastructure development and execution during a crucial era of energy transition.

Throughout his career, Sharma has led more than 30 major projects spanning over 10,000 kilometers of pipeline infrastructure and capital investments across both liquid and gas sectors. His expertise encompasses the entire infrastructure lifecycle - from initial concept, design, and engineering to procurement, construction management, commissioning, and operational excellence.

Before joining GAIL, Sharma built an impressive nearly 32-year legacy at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). Starting his journey as a Graduate Management Trainee, he steadily rose through leadership ranks to become Executive Director and Regional Head for Eastern Region Pipelines.

Sharma holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia, a Master of Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) from the Xavier Institute of Management (XIM Bhubaneswar).
