Oct 2026 : JSW Utkal Steel Limited has officially awarded SMS group a contract to supply an SMS Agglomeration sinter plant for its upcoming greenfield integrated steelworks in Paradeep, Odisha. Part of a massive 13.2 MTPA facility, the new plant marks the third sinter facility of this scale built for the JSW Group, solidifying a long-standing industrial partnership.

In its first phase, the plant will boast an annual production capacity of approximately 5.75 million tons, operating across a 496-square-meter strand area. Full commissioning is scheduled for May 2028. Under the agreement, SMS group will deliver the complete design, engineering, and equipment supply package, including electrical systems and level 1 and level 2 automation.

To maximize plant efficiency, the facility will feature Optimus Sinter, a digital solution designed to boost productivity, optimize fuel consumption, and stabilize production using real-time process insights - without extra hardware investment. Furthermore, the plant will be equipped with advanced Emission- and Energy-Optimized Sintering (EOS) technology. By recirculating off-gases and recovering waste heat, EOS dramatically slashes solid fuel costs while significantly lowering CO2 and SOx emissions.
