October 2026 : Over the past decade, manufacturing enterprises have aggressively adopted Industry 4.0 innovations - from shopfloor automation and MES platforms to cloud analytics and connected IoT devices. Yet, a crucial question remains: Are manufacturers building a truly integrated digital strategy, or simply managing a fragmented collection of digital projects operating in silos?
To explore this pivotal shift, HPE and Intel presented an exclusive, closed-door CxO Roundtable powered by Pro MFG Media - on the theme -The Connected Manufacturing Enterprise: Connecting Strategy, Systems & People for the Digital Manufacturing Enterprise. The high-impact evening brought together a select group of CIOs, CTOs, Plant Chiefs, and Digital Transformation heads spanning various sectors.
The evening commenced with networking and warm introductions led by Manish Kulkarni (Pro MFG Media), followed by an insightful context-setting session by Varun Trivedi (HPE).
The discussion brought together key voices shaping the future of digital manufacturing: Anand Deodhar (Force Motors), Bhushan Badgujar (Advik Hi-Tech), Chandrakant Dange (ZF India). Dr. Prashant Bhat (Tata Motors), Maneesh Tahilramani (Mahindra Logistics), Rajeev Mittal (Endurance Technologies), Rajeev Sogani (SKF), Sanjay Gahlod (Belrise Industries), Santosh Bannur (Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles), Sathish Kumar (Adient), Vinod Bhat (Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd), Zoeb Karampurwala (EKA Mobility). Casey Taylor and Neil Davis both represented HPE, Chetan Rajendra Potdar from Intel, and Manish Kulkarni served as the moderator from Pro MFG Media.
Industry leaders delved into the core realities of IT-OT convergence. The discussion quickly established that the next competitive frontier in manufacturing won't come from merely generating more data, but from creating an intelligent, secure, and adaptive ecosystem capable of sensing, predicting, and acting autonomously.
1. Strategic Alignment & IT-OT Governance
Is the roadmap driven at the enterprise level, at the plant level, or through a hybrid approach? Leaders emphasized that breaking down operational silos requires joint ownership. IT brings enterprise scale and cybersecurity rigor, while OT ensures real-time operational safety and reliability.
2. Cleaning Data Silos for Real-Time AI
A major talking point centered around data readiness. Much of the data currently sitting across MES, ERP, and edge devices remains structured in disconnected formats. For AI-powered analytics - such as predictive maintenance and automated defect detection - to deliver real value, establishing a clean, secure data foundation is mandatory.
3. Scaling Beyond the Pilot Phase
Transitioning a successful digital pilot from a single production line to an enterprise-wide deployment requires clear business outcome metrics rather than technical novelties. Repeatable architecture, standardized data pipelines, and change management are vital to scaling seamlessly.
4. The Human Element: Empowering the Workforce
Technology is only as effective as the people using it. The roundtable underscored the necessity of upskilling the workforce, addressing job transition concerns, and creating a culture where shopfloor operators and management work toward shared business goals.
Following summary presentations by HPE, Sanjay Bhan (Pro MFG) delivered the vote of thanks, closing the formal proceedings before an evening of felicitations, group photographs, and informal networking over cocktails and dinner.
The unanimous consensus of the evening was clear: the future of manufacturing belongs to organizations that treat digital transformation not as an IT initiative or an OT upgrade, but as a unified, enterprise-wide ecosystem powered by connected strategy, integrated systems, and an empowered workforce.
