October 2025 : In a significant move set to bolster sustainable packaging in India, Pakka Group, a leading listed entity specializing in sustainable food packaging from agricultural residues like bagasse, has announced a major collaboration with French paper machine builder, ALLIMAND. The partnership will establish a complete new paper machine, PM4, at Pakka’s Ayodhya facility, slated to begin production in 2026.
The ambitious project will focus on the promising market of grease-proof and flexible packaging paper, marking a strategic expansion for Pakka beyond its successful "Chuk" brand of compostable molded fiber food serviceware.
High-Tech Expansion - Following a rigorous selection process, ALLIMAND was chosen as the technology partner to deliver the key elements of the new machine. PM4 will boast a capacity of 115 tonnes per day and will feature advanced components, including an S hydraulic headbox with dilution control, an Inertial Shaking unit, a shoe press with transfer belt, an SC Sizer, and soft calendars.
This high-technology, large-scale investment is designed to consolidate Pakka's standing in the specialty papers market and is expected to significantly strengthen ALLIMAND’s already solid presence in the Indian subcontinent.
Pakka's Sustainable Foundation - Pakka, listed on the NSE since 2023, is celebrated for its commitment to sustainability, utilizing agri-residues to produce environmentally friendly packaging. Its existing Ayodhya site is a comprehensive unit featuring a pulp plant, three paper machines, and a modern molded fiber unit that produces popular items like compostable food trays made of bagasse pulp.
The introduction of PM4 is a testament to Pakka's "perpetual quest for development," signaling a commitment to providing regenerative flexible packaging solutions and further cementing its role as a pioneer in sustainable material innovation.
