August 2025 : UltraTech Cement has successfully operationalised a 7.5 MW round-the-clock (RTC) hybrid renewable energy project at its Sewagram Cement Works in Gujarat. This innovative, on-site solution marks a significant milestone as India’s first such project for industrial power consumption, integrating solar and wind energy with battery storage to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

The project, executed in collaboration with clean energy solutions company Gentari, is installed as a behind-the-meter system. It is a new benchmark in India’s clean energy transition, showcasing how advanced system integration can lead to substantial emissions reduction and energy cost optimization on a large scale.

This initiative is a key part of UltraTech’s decarbonisation strategy, aligning with its 2050 Net Zero goal. In the 2024-25 fiscal year, UltraTech became one of the first industrial companies in India to commission 1 GW of renewable energy capacity for captive use. The company aims to increase the share of green energy in its total power mix to 65 percent by 2027 and 85 percent by 2030, with a commitment to meet 100 percent of its electricity requirement through renewable sources by 2050.
