September 2026 : In a major step toward decarbonizing heavy construction logistics, UltraTech Cement has joined forces with concrete equipment manufacturer Putzmeister. Under this sustainability initiative, UltraTech will introduce 10 zero-emission iONTRON electric transit mixers into its Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) operations across the country.

The rollout officially commenced in September 2026, at bauma CONEXPO India, hosted at the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida. During a symbolic handover ceremony on the exhibition floor, Putzmeister delivered the very first unit of the 10-mixer fleet to UltraTech executives, marking a milestone in sustainable construction machinery.

This alliance underscores UltraTech's commitment to low-carbon, environmentally friendly RMC operations in India. Fleet logistics in heavy building operations traditionally rely heavily on diesel, making heavy transit machinery a prime focus for green transformation. By adopting Putzmeister's battery-electric iONTRON technology, UltraTech aims to cut carbon emissions, minimize tailpipe pollution, and reduce site noise in urban development projects.

Putzmeister’s iONTRON technology enables daily transit operations to run entirely on electric power without sacrificing output capacity or runtime efficiency. The remaining nine units are scheduled for progressive deployment across UltraTech’s primary urban hubs in India, setting a clean energy baseline for the concrete manufacturing industry.
