January 2024 : In this interaction with Niranjan Mudholkar, Editorial Director, Pro MFG Media, Vikram Shinde, Senior Deputy Director and Head - Structural Dynamics Lab, Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), shares that this year’s theme of SIAT 2024 aims to inspire discussions on transformative ideas and strategies within the context of contemporary mobility demands.

How is the preparation for SIAT 2024 progressing?
SIAT 2024, the 18th edition in the series, is scheduled from 23rd to 25th of January 2024 at PIECC, Moshi, Pune. SIAT is not just a symposium, but it’s a movement started by ARAI way back in 1985. As a convenor of SIAT 2024, I am pleased to share that the preparations are progressing in full swing. Team ARAI is diligently working on various aspects to ensure successful and enriching symposium experience for all the participants.

The theme of SIAT 2024 is 'Transformation Towards Progressive Mobility'. Tell us about the thoughts behind this theme. Why is it so important in today’s context?
The theme, ‘Transformation Towards Progressive Mobility’, reflects our commitment to exploring innovative solutions for evolving transportation challenges. In today’s context, with the rapid advancements in technologies and the growing need for sustainable and efficient mobility, addressing these issues is crucial for progressive and future-ready transportation eco-systems. This theme aims to inspire discussions on the transformative ideas and strategies within the context of contemporary mobility demands.

What are the highlights of this year’s Agenda?
Agenda of the symposium is packed with insightful sessions, covering keynote presentations from the industry experts, panel discussions on SIAT theme, covering emerging trends in automotive technologies and technical paper presentations on cutting-edge research. The agenda also features networking opportunities, allowing participants to engage with peers and professionals across the automotive and technology sectors. We have a comprehensive and dynamic program that caters to the diverse interests of our delegates.

Can you shed some light on some of the key technical aspects that will be covered through the various technical papers as well as the keynotes at the 2024 edition?
Certainly! Technical papers and keynotes at SIAT 2024 will delve into diverse automotive realms. The topics include electric and autonomous vehicles, advanced driver-assistance systems, sustainable mobility solutions, connectivity and artificial intelligence in automotive technology. The presentations aim to provide comprehensive insights into the latest innovations and challenges shaping the technical landscape of the automotive industry.

There is a huge focus on green mobility including electric vehicles across the industry. How is Siat 2024 covering the same?
SIAT 2024 recognizes the pivotal role of green mobility. The Symposium will feature dedicated sessions on electric vehicles, sustainable energy sources and eco-friendly transportation solutions. Expect in-depth discussions on the latest advancements, challenges, and future prospects in the realm of green mobility, showcasing the commitment of the automotive industry to environmental sustainability.

What kind of opportunities or platforms are available for new engineers and engineering students at SIAT 2024?

How many exhibitors, visitors and speakers are you expecting for this edition?
This edition of SIAT will be the biggest in terms of Paper presentation, number of exhibitors and booths. SIAT EXPO has participation of around 170 exhibitors, showcasing their products, technologies, innovations and services through 340 different stalls. It is expected that over 1,500 delegates will contribute to the vibrant discussions and interactions. Delegate registration is now open through the SIAT 2024 website (https://siat.araiindia.com).
