Indian automotive sector is going through a major shift, and in the current situation, the Electric Vehicle (EV) market in India has gained significant momentum. Sona Comstar began its EV journey a couple of years back. The organization realized the potential of Electric Vehicles in the automobile industry and implemented strategies to develop efficient auto components.

The company developed low cost & high performing differential assembly for a large North American electric vehicle maker. The research & development team created the product that fulfilled the requirement of cost as well as performance. The confluence of three different cultures enables the organization to produce high performing products at low cost. Even though the company is cost-driven, Kaizen plays a key role in the company’s processes. They created their first differential assembly for an electric vehicle at a 30% lower cost and achieved 10% more performance eventually, leading to higher engagement with clients.

The path of an excellent performance gets on board many new customers, and their trust brings in larger volume models. The customer’s trust in Sona Comstar has resulted in benefitting them with 20% of revenue from the sales of the electric vehicle components. The motto to stay ahead of the time paved the way for Sona Comstar in the industry.

The organization is fortified with an excellent Engineering and Research & Development team that enables it to lead in a competitive market. The constant urge for improvisation within the team itself keeps them ahead of the curve. They repeated their strategy of 2017 in 2019 and introduced the two-wheeler motors. In the coming year 2021, the company plans to mass-produce the VSC and motor for hybrid vehicles.
