Titagarh Rail Systems Unveils 25 BP Tug Bhishm

Contract for construction and delivery of six 25T BP Tugs was concluded with TRSL, Kolkata in consonance with “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiative of the Government of India.

January 2024 : Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd., a prominent manufacturer of railway rolling stock, proudly unveiled the 25T Bollard Pull (BP) Tug named Bhishm at their facility in Kolkata. The launch ceremony was officiated by Cmde S Sreekumar, Warship Production Superintendent (Kolkata). This Tug is a proud flag bearer of “Make in India” initiative of Govt of India.

Contract for construction and delivery of six 25T BP Tugs was concluded with TRSL, Kolkata in consonance with “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiative of the Government of India. These Tugs are being built under the classification rules of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS). The deployment of these tugs is expected to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Navy by providing crucial support to naval ships and submarines during berthing, un-berthing, turning, and maneuvering in restricted waters. The Tugs will also provide afloat firefighting assistance to ships alongside, at anchorage and will also have capability to conduct limited Search and Rescue Operations.
