December 2025 : Tamil Nadu has further cemented its reputation as India's high-precision manufacturing powerhouse with the inauguration of Tsugami Precision Engineering India Pvt. Ltd.’s expansive new assembly facility at SIPCOT Vallam Vadagal. The major expansion, marking a significant investment by the Japanese CNC systems giant, was officially opened by Mr. V. Arun Roy, IAS, Secretary, Industries, Investment Promotion & Commerce Department, alongside Kaoru Shiraishi, Director General, JETRO - Japan External Trade Organization.
This inauguration underscores the State’s proactive commitment to enabling global manufacturing leaders and facilitating top-tier industrial growth. The inauguration hosted Dr. TRB Rajaa, Darez A., Alarmel mangai, Pradeep R, Sujhatha A., Varadharaj Sugumaran, Consulate General of Japan, Embassy of Japan, Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Tsugami, a company with an 88-year legacy in cutting-edge precision CNC systems, has steadily built its foundation in Tamil Nadu since establishing its initial 3.63-acre, 60,000 sq. ft. factory at Oragadam. Responding to the surging demand from critical sectors, including automotive, aerospace, medical, and general engineering, the company has now infused INR 250 crore into this crucial expansion.
The new state-of-the-art facility spans an impressive 2.6-lakh sq. ft. and is specifically engineered for next-generation assembly and advanced machining operations. This investment is set to generate approximately 500 new high-skill jobs, significantly boosting the local employment landscape and enhancing the technological capabilities of the region.
The decision to expand highlights Tsugami’s "deep confidence in Tamil Nadu’s world-class industrial infrastructure, ready talent pool, and investor-friendly ecosystem," a statement that reinforces the State’s successful industrial policies and attractiveness to global capital.
The continued strengthening of the Japan-Tamil Nadu manufacturing corridor is a major win for the State’s ambitious industrial agenda.
