BEML Lays Foundation for 'BRAHMA,' a ₹1,800 Crore Rail Hub in Madhya Pradesh

August 2025 : BEML Limited has taken a significant step toward transforming India’s rail manufacturing sector with the foundation stone laying ceremony for BRAHMA – the BEML Rail Hub for Advanced Manufacturing. Located in Umaria, near Bhopal, this state-of-the-art facility is set to become a cornerstone of the nation's "Make in India, Make for the World" mission.
The event was graced by Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, who led the ceremony. He was joined by key dignitaries, including Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav, Hon’ble Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Hon’ble Union Minister for Railways, Communications & Electronics and IT Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, and BEML CMD Shri Shantanu Roy.
Envisioned as a world-class manufacturing unit, the hub is spread across 60 hectares with an investment of ₹1,800 crore. It is designed to produce next-generation rolling stock, including Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, metro, and high-speed train coaches, setting new benchmarks for technology, quality, and innovation.
The project is expected to have a profound impact, with highlights including the creation of over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, significant skill development opportunities for local youth, and a major boost to Madhya Pradesh’s industrial growth. This new hub will strengthen India’s position as a global leader in rail engineering and advanced manufacturing.
