January 2026 : Gates Corporation, a global leader in power transmission and fluid power solutions, has recently appointed Prasanna Kumar as its new Managing Director for India. A veteran of the manufacturing sector with over 28 years of diversified experience, Kumar takes the helm of Gates India’s Commercial and Operations Teams during a critical period of industrial transformation.

In his new role, Kumar is accountable for overall business performance, strategic execution, and organizational capability building, while prioritizing a culture of lean thinking and high-performance collaboration. His appointment signals Gates' commitment to scaling its footprint in the Indian market through operational excellence and innovative leadership.

Prasanna Kumar G N is widely recognized for his ability to lead complex organizations through periods of rapid change. Before joining Gates, he served as Director for the Asia Pacific Group at Parker Hannifin, where he spearheaded regional Lean and High Performance initiatives.

His extensive leadership portfolio includes P&L responsibility and business transformation roles at global giants such as Danfoss Power Solutions, Eaton (Fluid Power), and ABB. Throughout his career, Kumar has consistently delivered profitable growth by optimizing manufacturing footprints and fostering environments that promote continuous improvement.

Prasanna’s 28-year career includes foundational and leadership roles at Yuken India Limited, Bourton Group LLP, and Gokaldas Exports Limited. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University (SSIT) and a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Management from BITS Pilani.
