November 2025 : GE Aerospace has announced a significant $14 million investment to expand its manufacturing capabilities at its Pune facility, coinciding with the site's tenth year of successful operation.
This new funding, which follows a $30 million investment announced last year, is earmarked to upgrade manufacturing processes and automation, specifically enhancing support for the production of advanced engine components. The move underscores GE Aerospace’s deepening commitment to India’s role in global aerospace manufacturing.
“Our team in Pune has built strong capabilities, and with the support of a country-wide network of suppliers, has delivered components for some of our most advanced commercial jet engines, with safety and quality at the forefront,” said Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of the Pune facility, GE Aerospace. “This investment reflects our commitment to the Make in India initiative and to advancing India’s role in global aerospace manufacturing.”
The Pune plant, which started as a multi-business site, has evolved into a key high-tech parts supplier for GE Aerospace’s global commercial engine factories. It is currently supported by a robust network of over 300 local suppliers. Over the last decade, the facility has played a crucial role in developing local talent, training more than 5,000 production associates in precision manufacturing.
The site’s operational success is attributed to FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace’s proprietary lean operating model that prioritizes safety, quality, and efficiency. This model has driven improved process efficiency, waste reduction, and increased output, alongside enhanced shop-floor safety and shorter lead times for critical components.
The investment reinforces GE Aerospace's long-standing partnership with India’s aviation sector, which spans over 40 years. GE Aerospace and partner engines power 1,400 aircraft for major Indian airlines, and the company’s defense engines are crucial to the Indian Air Force and Navy. The Pune facility remains a vital part of the company’s global supply chain.
