October 2026 : Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL) has elevated Navanit Narayan to the position of Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, expanding his board mandate as the group doubles down on scaling its presence across specialty chemicals, polymers, and advanced materials.

Narayan, who previously served as Whole-time Director & CEO at HPL, brings over three decades of global, multi-sector operational leadership to his elevated role. The move comes at a crucial juncture as HPL drives ambitious capacity expansions, technology integration, and sustainable manufacturing practices aimed at strengthening India’s domestic chemical supply chains. Known for his execution rigor and expertise in handling complex cross-industry transformations, Narayan will lead the company’s strategic expansion, capital allocation, and long-term value creation across core and emerging business segments.

Narayan’s career spans more than 30 years across chemicals, telecommunications, IT, and management consulting. He began his corporate trajectory at Tata Steel, spending 12 years across operational, strategy, and project leadership roles. He subsequently headed regional consulting operations at Mercer Consulting and served as Vice President of Operations at Wipro BPO and COO at Epicenter Technologies. Narayan served at Nokia Siemens Networks, he also spent over a decade at Idea Cellular Ltd before taking on senior leadership at Vodafone Idea Limited post-merger. Prior to joining HPL, he served as Group CEO and Board Member at Lyca Group (including Lyca Mobile).

An alumnus of BIT Mesra (B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering), he holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering & Management Sciences from Northwestern University and a PGDBM in Marketing & Finance from XLRI Jamshedpur, alongside executive credentials as a British Chevening Scholar at the University of Leeds.
