April 2026 : The bustling streets of India are about to get a high-tech, eco-friendly makeover. To blend global design prowess with deep-rooted local expertise, Hyundai Motor Company and TVS Motor Company have officially signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to co-create a new generation of Electric Three-Wheelers (E3W). This partnership isn't just about building vehicles; it’s about reimagining how millions of people move through urban landscapes every single day.

The collaboration follows a wave of excitement generated by their E3W concept debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. By combining Hyundai’s human-centric design philosophy with TVS’s battle-tested electric platforms, the two giants aim to tackle the unique challenges of India’s last-mile mobility sector. While Hyundai leads the charge on research, development, and advanced mobility tech, TVS will utilize its massive manufacturing footprint and intricate understanding of the Indian consumer to lead local sales and future exports.

For Hyundai, this represents a deepened commitment to one of its most vital global markets. Joongsun Ko, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Planning at Hyundai Motor Company, noted the strategic importance of the move: “Hyundai Motor Company has long explored ways to contribute to improving India’s transportation environment as a key market, and our collaboration with TVS Motor is a strategic decision rooted in that effort. We hope the co-developed E3W enables broader access to safer and more sustainable transportation for people across the country.”

TVS sees this as a pivotal moment for scalable sustainability. Sharad Mishra, President of Group Strategy at TVS Motor Company, emphasized the synergy between the two brands: “At TVS Motor Company, we aim to transform quality of life through sustainable and accessible mobility. The Joint Development Agreement marks an important step in our partnership with Hyundai Motor Company and advances our shared ambition to develop electric three-wheeler solutions. By bringing together complementary strengths - including our electric three-wheeler platform, engineering expertise, and deep understanding of customer needs - we are well-positioned to deliver purpose-built products for India and additional markets."

As these two industry titans sync their gears, the result promises to set a new benchmark for quality and technology in the electric rickshaw space, proving that the future of Indian transport is not just electric - it’s collaborative.
