“It brings together biology, engineering, and digital technologies to create scalable, low-carbon solutions. Combined with our collaboration with BRIC–NCCS, it will play a key role in building talent and accelerating the transition from discovery to commercial biomanufacturing." - Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Founder Chairman - Praj Industries

April 2026 : Praj Industries recently celebrated its 18th Praj Matrix Foundation Day with a bold move: the launch of an Advanced Precision Fermentation Lab. This isn’t just another research facility; it is a high-tech engine designed to propel India toward a low-carbon, high-performance "BioEconomy" through the government’s ambitious BioE3 initiative.

The lab is one of a kind globally, utilizing AI-enabled technology to take the guesswork out of biomanufacturing. By focusing on next-generation bioprocesses, Praj and its subsidiary, Praj HiPurity Systems, aim to help industries - ranging from pharmaceuticals and food to biofuels - scale up their innovations faster and with much less risk. It’s a bridge between a brilliant idea in a test tube and a commercially viable product on a shelf.

The human element of this breakthrough is perhaps its most vital component. Alongside the lab launch, Praj formalized a partnership with BRIC-NCCS. This collaboration ensures that the next generation of scientists - PhD scholars and researchers-get hands-on experience, turning academic discovery into real-world solutions.

Dr. Rajesh S. Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), highlighted the importance of this bridge, stating: "India’s bioeconomy growth will be driven by strong academia-industry linkages and a skilled scientific workforce. Such initiatives and collaborations align well with DBT’s vision of fostering translational research and building capacity in biotechnology. They will play a vital role in accelerating innovation and strengthening India’s bio-based economy."

For Dr. Pramod Chaudhari, Founder Chairman of Praj Industries, the lab is the culmination of years of pioneering work in decarbonization. He shared: "The Advanced Precision Fermentation Lab at Praj Matrix represents a significant leap in our innovation journey. It brings together biology, engineering, and digital technologies to create scalable, low-carbon solutions. Combined with our collaboration with BRIC–NCCS, it will play a key role in building talent and accelerating the transition from discovery to commercial biomanufacturing."

As India strives for energy self-reliance, this lab stands as a testament to what happens when indigenous technology meets global ambition.
